Control Room Operator (Polyester)
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Possess a general knowledge or willingness to learn manufacturing equipment used in a manufacturing environment.Possess a good understanding or willingness to learn standard plant operations and processes in a manufacturing facility.Must understand and follow all State/Federal regulations as well as COIM Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory requirements as outlined in COIM procedures.Responsible for maintaining daily logs and company records in a detail-oriented way, for example batch records, any other documents as assigned.Manage daily tasks of operators to keep operations moving forward in an efficient and productive way, with the assistance of supervisor when escalation is necessary.Must understand basic chemistry for products made in assigned production area at completion of training program.Must understand the full workflow of the unit, ranging from an understanding of the supply chain flow to the manufacturing of batches and the troubleshooting of equipment at completion of training program.Recognize and document "abnormal" operating conditions with proper response including immediate notification of supervision.Communicate reactor and plant status at the end and beginning of the shift during shift changes.Responsible of maintaining the boiler log and managing the boiler operator schedule (
*optional through the black seal boiler certification).
Raw Materials Must show proficiency in Navision navigation & RM receipt transactions.
Reading batch and operating instructions associated for the preparation of raw material.
Proper operation of transfer controls, PLC systems, pneumatic, and electrical equipment for the offloading of raw materials.
Unload bulk raw materials and intermediates from trucks and railcars to storage or packages.
Identifications and preparation of re-work and partial containers in ovens for upcoming batches.
Sampling of incoming raw materials.
Dispose of empty used containers Charge Reactors Possess good working knowledge of batch-calc and production schedule to load raw material from bulks or package.
Possess good working knowledge of batch-calc including log page and recipe pages entries for tracking of raw material & packing procedures.
Load raw material in the reactors through super-sacks, totes or drums.
Good knowledge of the PLC for start reactor loading (from the preparation of raw material in the weight tank, to the loading of the reactors through PLC).
Using the proper check list to track raw material charging.
Loading re-work and partials package in the reactors and dissolvers.
Reactions Setting parameters on the PLC for the batch.
Working knowledge of general batching operations.
Sectioning oil valves and re-use of previous column and condenser.
Monitoring PLC and reactor parameters and status.
Sample reactors.
Perform analysis per viscosity, acid number, OH (NIR) and moisture.
