Assistant Project Manager – Support High-Impact Commercial Construction Projects for DEI Incorporated

The Opportunity

DEI Incorporated is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial construction projects from preconstruction and buyout through closeout.

This is an office-based role in Cincinnati, not a work-from-home position.

The APM will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal leadership while developing the skills required to advance within commercial construction project management.

What You’ll Do


* Assist Project Managers with project planning, documentation, scheduling, and cost control.


* Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.


* Prepare, track, and coordinate RFIs and submittals.


* Assist with change orders, project documentation, and subcontractor coordination.


* Support construction schedule updates and milestone tracking.


* Participate in drawing reviews and quantity take-offs.


* Assist with buyout, bid comparisons, and subcontractor procurement.


* Process and review project documentation, invoices, and supporting cost information.


* Coordinate with architects, engineers, Superintendents, and subcontractors.


* Support project closeout and turnover activities.


* Travel occasionally to project sites as required.

Required Qualifications


* Working knowledge of how to read and interpret construction drawings.


* Strong organizational and document-management skills.


* Clear written and verbal communication skills.


* Ability to work full-time from DEI’s Cincinnati office.


* Ability to travel approximately 10% as project needs require.


* Strong interest in building a long-term career in commercial construction.

Preferred Qualifications


* Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.


* Previous commercial construction, project engineering, project coordination, or APM experience.


* Experience with submittals and RFIs.


* Knowledge of Procore or a similar construction-management platform.


* Exposure to construction scheduling.


* Experience with take-offs, bidding, buyout, or cost tracking.
