Maintenance Technician II - South Tampa Family YMCA

Under the direction of the District Property Director and the Center Executive Director, the Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing advanced maintenance tasks, supporting multiple locations, and providing guidance and oversight to Maintenance Technician I staff.

The Technician II will be performing preventative/ongoing maintenance tasks, assisting in renovation projects, maintenance/general upkeep of facilities and grounds.

Performs all tasks, projects, and duties within assigned budgets and allocated time and in compliance with regulatory and safety guidelines.

This role helps ensure facilities remain fully operational, safe, and member-ready at all times while proactively identifying issues before failures occur.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Completes all maintenance/project tasks as assigned (both ongoing and preventative) and maintains records in accordance with regulatory agencies and Tampa Y policies and procedures.Coordinates with vendors and contractors as assigned.Performs repairs on pool heaters, pool pumps and asseses if a contractor is needed for heavier repairs.Provides oversight of maintenance operations across assigned centers, ensuring consistency, quality, and timely completion of work.Assesses the state of current assets and develop plans for necessary repairs, long term maintenance, and asset replacement.Trains and mentors other technicians as needed.Performs maintenance and repair work including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and light construction.Independently diagnoses and resolves complex maintenance issues with minimal supervision.Surveys buildings, equipment, and mechanical systems to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Executes scheduled preventative maintenance including HVAC servicing, filter replacement, and equipment inspections.

Provides recommendations that improve asset life cycles and reduce emergency repairs.Assists in renovation and improvement projects.Understands that the customer is our primary focus prioritizing safety while promoting a welcome, friendly, and engaging environment.Assists in development of the property budget supporting the preventative and annual maintenance plans.Purchases equipment and supplies as assigned and maintains/records inventory in compliance with Tampa Y policies and procedures.Monitors and fulfills work orders efficiently; prioritizes tasks as needed.Supports program setup needs including room arrangements and furniture movement.Performs ongoing maintenance and property checks (audits) continually inspecting for safety, cleanliness, and member/program participant comfort.
