Accounting Assistant I
Position Summary The Accounting Assistant I will be responsible for maintaining the daily administrative accounting and clerical duties, including Travel, Inventory, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, account reconciliations, and general clerical for the Accounting Department.
Will provide technical and administrative assistance by assisting with purchasing documentation, spreadsheets and customer service.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities Perform cash management, reconcile cash receipts/collections/deposits daily.
Enter/process invoices (Accounts Payable).
Prepare statements/invoices for reimbursement, reconcile expenses to general ledger (Accounts Receivable).
Re-prioritize tasks as projects/assignments change.
Work independently or collaboratively on teams.
Record, maintain, reconcile check logs for accurate revenue accounting.
Process purchase orders for approval.
Purchase and distribute requested items/packages for all locations.
Prepare/distribute provider statements.
Process entry referral and intercompany payments.
Provide updates on transfers.
Coordinate assigned work per project guidelines.
Assist Patient Services Manager and Director of Revenue Cycle Management and Compliance, as needed.
Exhibit positive attitude, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn.
Follow all employee safety and ergonomic protocols.
Safely perform all duties and follow required protective protocols to ensure personal and collective safety.
Maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards, including being mindful of proper posture and regularly practicing ergonomic stretches.
Take responsibility for ensuring all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the confidentiality, safety, and health of all personnel involved.
Take appropriate corrective action to address matters of employee health and safety as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Education & Experience Must be at least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year with electronic finance software.
Experience in accounts payable/receivable, cash/revenue functions.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and computer skills (10-key by touch).
Ability to work alone or with a team, under minimal supervision and with deadlines.
Preferred Education & Experience Experience in purchasing/receiving, governmental accounting, data entry for financials, account analysis/reconciliation, and general ledger/journal entries.
Effective communication with community groups and medical facilities serving the American Indian community.
Licenses/Certificates Valid CPR Certification Valid California Drivers License Pre-Employment Requirements Pre-employment drug testing.
Department of Justice fingerprint clearance through Federal, State, and Child Abuse Index.
Working Environment & Physical Demands Working Environment: Work is performed in a health clinic setting.
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
