Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer (Fan Compressor & Aerodynamics)
As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer (Fan and Compressor Aerodynamics) here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will join the industry leader to design the next generation of breakthrough technologies.
You will be part of a team responsible for aerodynamic design, simulation, analysis and test of fan and compressor (FanC) in gas turbine engine (turbomachinery) applications within Honeywell Aerospace Engines and Power Systems (E&PS).
You will also support currently fielded products and contribute towards development of new products for a variety of turbofan, turboshaft and auxiliary power unit (APU) applications.
In addition, you will apply principles of design, physics, mathematics and software development to perform a broad variety of engineering tasks on turbofan, turboshaft, and APU product lines.
You will contribute to continuous improvement of design, analysis and simulation methods.
You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
* Aerodynamic Design - Perform activities related to aerodynamic design of rotating and static turbomachinery components such as blades, vanes, stators, axial and centrifugal compressors, by evaluating parameters such as pressure ratio/mass flow/efficiency/surge margin with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as a core responsibility
* Support testing of components and engine modules in various lifecycle stages (rig, development, production) and perform data reduction/analysis on test data
* Generate accompanying documentation capturing results and findings following design, simulation, analysis and test activities
* Develop and present engineering artifacts during structured design reviews
* Contribute to technical mentoring, process/tool improvement and knowledge capture
