Product Estimator / Engineering Intern

Scope of Position The Product Estimator / Engineering Intern assists the project engineering staff with estimating cost and feasibility to customer specific solutions that are not in the standard product offering.

Accountabilities: Assists with Cost accuracy/estimationsAssist with Sales & Customer service supportLiaison between design, operations, sales, and product management Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities Assists with Technical analysis of customer requirements to determine the most cost-effective and practical solution to meet the customers needs.Assists with creating cost estimates for the proposed solution(s), ensuring the final quotation captures all costs for the project (product design, production, etc.).Assists with the proposal package including quotation, technical data sheet, preliminary technical drawings, exceptions/clarifications table, etc.Considers regulations and any other codes and standards required by the customers projectCollaborates with other engineers and staff to maximize project success.Reports project progress, status and issues to product team and other stakeholders, escalating issues for resolution as necessaryConsults with sales or lead/ project manager to clarify customer requirements for orders to prevent project delays and added costsRegularly interacts with Production teams to support production team and address production issues.

Computer Skills: Strong CAD skills with proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD or DraftSight (preferred).

Competence is Microsoft Office is required.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must be enrolled in a University or Community College.

Preferably working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of one year of college in Mechanical Engineering degree program, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience Language Skills: The ability to read, analyze and interpret technical manuals and procedures.

Ability to write business correspondence and procedures.

Must be able to speak, read, and write English.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense thinking to a wide range of practical problems.

Ability to analyze and solve problems.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in verbal, written or diagram form.

Working Conditions While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment.

You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment.

You will be required to work in the office at the Haws North America Headquarters in Sparks, NV location (Monday Friday).

Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.
