Automation & Control Systems Application Engineer

The Application Engineer I is responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, testing, and commissioning of industrial automation and control system solutions.

This role supports project execution activities while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality customer solutions.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), automation technologies, and industrial control applications.

They are a proactive problem solver who works effectively in team environments, demonstrates technical curiosity, and continuously seeks opportunities to expand their expertise.

This position is well-suited for an engineer who aspires to develop into a Lead Engineer or Project Manager role.

This is a hybrid role reporting onsite to Foxboro, MA 2 days per week.

What will you do?


* Design, configure, test, and implement automation and control system applications.


* Develop and maintain DCS control strategies, graphics, alarm management systems, and system documentation.


* Participate in system integration, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and startup activities.


* Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, communication, and control system issues.


* Collaborate with project managers, lead engineers, customers, and cross-functional teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.


* Develop and review engineering deliverables including functional design specifications, control narratives, test procedures, I/O databases, and cause-and-effect matrices.


* Support customer meetings, technical reviews, and project execution activities.


* Apply engineering standards, quality processes, and cybersecurity best practices throughout project execution.


* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share technical knowledge within the engineering organization.
