Design Drafter II

Design Drafter II Reports To: Engineering Manager / Director of Engineering Location: Cresco, Iowa FLSA Classification: Hourly Job Summary: The Design Drafter II position supports Featherlites high-performance aluminum trailer manufacturing operation through product design, manufacturing support, continuous improvement, and accountability for quality, cost, delivery, and safety.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.

Support trailer design, customization, and product development.

Participate in design reviews and engineering change processes.

Collaborate with Sales, Production, Purchasing, and Quality.

Drive manufacturability, quality, and cost improvements.

Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

Ensure compliance with company standards and customer requirements.

Demonstrate ownership and accountability for assigned work.

Performance Expectations: Deliver work on schedule.

Maintain high drawing accuracy.

Reduce rework and production disruptions.

Support customer satisfaction.

Contribute to continuous improvement.

Leadership Expectations: Demonstrate increasing levels of technical leadership, collaboration, mentoring, and organizational influence consistent with role level.

Decision-Making Authority: Expected to make independent decisions within assigned responsibilities while appropriately escalating business and technical risks.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Requirements: Strong CAD and technical documentation skills.

Manufacturing and aluminum fabrication knowledge.

Education and experience requirements aligned to role level.
