Medical Assistant

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Under direct supervision of the Practice Manager, employee will be responsible for performing various clerical duties, assisting with scheduling and assisting with patient care when necessary.

Responsible for assessment, care, and education of patients in the primary care setting.

Perform general office duties (keyboarding, filing, telephone, computer and office equipment) as required by the practice Greets patients and/or family Takes vital signs, obtains/reviews medical, social, surgical and medication history, and allergy information.

Prepares patient for examination, performs procedures (in office labs: urinalysis, pregnancy testing, strep screens; electrocardiogram (EKGs), tuberculosis (TB) testing, etc.) and reports results to providers.

Communicates information regarding testing, procedures and follow up care to patient in a clear, concise and professional manner.

Accurately documents all patient information in the electronic medical record according to current guidelines.

Administers medications as prescribed by provider.

Assists provider with examinations and procedures.

Prepares and cleans the patient area, sets up equipment, cleans and facilitates room set up after a procedure.

Disposes of contaminated supplies and sterilizes medical instruments.
