Key Responsibilities/Description of Tasks
The Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing, and validating returned or failed products to restore them to operational condition.
This role performs hands-on troubleshooting at the component, sub-assembly, and system level, following approved procedures, quality standards, and documentation requirements.
The Repair Technician works closely with repair logistics, quality, and engineering teams to support timely and accurate completion of repair orders.
Repair & Troubleshooting
Diagnose failures and perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical assemblies
Troubleshoot issues using schematics, drawings, test procedures, and diagnostic tools
Perform component-level repair, replacement, rework, and adjustment as required
Execute functional testing and validation to confirm repair effectiveness
Document failure modes, root causes, and repair actions accurately
Testing & Verification
Perform post-repair testing and inspection to ensure products meet specifications
Use test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, or functional test fixtures
Verify compliance with engineering requirements, quality standards, and safety guidelines
Identify repeat failures or abnormal results and escalate as needed
Documentation & Systems
Complete repair records, test results, and system updates in systems
Ensure accurate serial number tracking and traceability throughout the repair process
Follow work instructions, repair procedures, and change notices
Provide clear feedback to engineering or quality on failure trends
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Adhere to ESD, handling, and safety requirements at all times
Ensure repairs comply with IPC, ISO, and internal quality standards
Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action activities
Support continuous improvement by identifying process or design improvement opportunities
Collaboration & Support
Work closely with Repair Logistics to meet repair priorities and turnaround targets
Collaborate with Quality and Engineering on complex or recurring issues
Support training of junior technicians as needed
Assist with evaluation of new tools, fixtures, or repair methods
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
2–5 years of experience in repair, electronics, electro-mechanical assembly, or service operations
Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and work instructions
Experience using common hand tools and electronic test equipment
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40–50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
Technical certificate or associate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field
