Managing Consultant, Environmental Compliance

At ERM, as a Managing Consultant, Environmental Compliance, you’ll step into a high-impact, client-facing role where your expertise directly influences how leading industrial organizations navigate regulatory complexity and advance sustainable operations.
You’ll partner with senior leaders, guide critical compliance strategies, and take on growing responsibility across project leadership, client engagement, and team development—positioning yourself as a trusted advisor and future leader within a global consulting firm.

What You’ll Bring:
Required:
* Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
* 4+ years of environmental compliance experience (consulting and permitting strongly preferred)
* Working knowledge of key regulations (e.g., CAA, CWA, RCRA, EPCRA, OPA)
* Strong analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills
* Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
* Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, databases)
* Willingness to travel up to 20%

Preferred:
* Master’s degree and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
* 6–10 years of relevant experience, including consulting
* Experience managing projects, budgets, and/or junior staff
* Advanced proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and manage environmental permits, plans, and compliance programs aligned with regulatory requirements and client operations
* Lead environmental compliance assessments, audits, and corrective action planning
* Prepare and manage reporting for programs such as air quality, hazardous waste, stormwater, NPDES, TRI, and Tier II
