Data Scientist
Salary Range: $51.00-$68.72 per hour
SUMMARY
The Data Scientist supports California’s Medicaid 1115 JI Reentry Initiative by analyzing, managing, and reporting data related to enrollment, service utilization, and program outcomes for Medi-Cal–eligible justice-involved adults transitioning from incarceration to the community.
This role is responsible for developing and maintaining datasets, dashboards, and reports to support State reporting requirements, monitor enrollment and continuity of Medi-Cal coverage, and evaluate program performance and outcomes.
Working in collaboration with clinical, operational, and administrative teams, the Data Scientist ensures data accuracy, integrity, and timeliness while providing actionable insights to improve care coordination, compliance, and program effectiveness, with the goal of improving health outcomes and reducing recidivism.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Collaborates with subject matter experts, business leaders, and other stakeholders to identify priority business problems and to design, implement, and manage data-driven solutions across the full business lifecycle.
* Partners with subject matter experts to identify, evaluate, and select appropriate data sources, including internal and external datasets and structured and unstructured data.
* Conducts advanced statistical, analytical, and modeling studies to generate actionable insights that inform and resolve complex business problems.
* Applies industry-standard, domain-specific software tools and programming languages to ingest, clean, transform, integrate, analyze, summarize, and visualize data.
* Prepares and communicates data-driven findings and recommendations to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders, through written reports, oral presentations, visualizations, and interactive analytical tools.
* Designs, implements, evaluates, and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess baseline performance and track short- and long-term outcomes over the business lifecycle.
* Collaborates with information technology and data engineering teams to support data collection, integration, governance, and retention requirements across diverse and large-scale datasets, including healthcare and administrative data.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to exercise sound judgement while working in a stressful environment.
Able to lift up to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting.
Education/Experience
* Two (2) years of experience applying machine learning, predictive analytics, data management, and hypothesis-driven data analysis to produce actionable recommendations to support data-driven program, policy, and operational decision-making.
Certificates/Licenses/Clearances
* Successfully clear the LA County Live Scan process.
