Geology/Environmental Manager

The Geo-Environmental Manager is responsible for supporting NESL under the direction of the VP of MEP Services to include completing permits for governmental agencies to fulfill environmental requirements/needs; researching and completing appropriate grant applications; researching for future business development opportunities; managing property; managing community, property, compliance and improvement projects; working with coworkers and managers to develop plans and compliance with regulations; and, providing training and knowledge to coworkers and managers dealing with regulated government programs.

The incumbent will supervise the Geo-Environmental Specialist(s).

Essential Functions:


* Governmental compliance (10-20%)


* Submitting reports to various governmental agencies.


* Sampling and supervising compliance related issues.


* Implementing site-specific special conditions.


* Managing unstaffed inactive sites.


* Maintaining Mining License and necessary environmental permits.


* Manages administrative tasks (10-40%)


* Overseeing the Geo-Environmental Specialist(s) and provides support as needed.


* Creating financial feasibility studies on new processes, projects and plans. 


* Managing accounting for subcontractors.


* Managing compliance with corporate policies and local, state & federal regulations.


* Updating and informing upper management of trends and issues with environmental compliance.


* Assisting with financial planning for retirement of assets.


* Keeping corporate management and coworkers apprised of area of expertise.


* Property Management (10-40%)


* Maintaining property lists.


* Managing leases.


* Assisting with property acquisitions and disposals.


* Responding to inquiries and evaluating property information.


* Develop and maintain blasting program to meet corporate goals.

(5-20%)


* Working with quarry Superintendents to create a blasting program that meets plant and production specific needs.


* Creating real blast plans for governmental agencies and works with supervisors to implement plans.


* Providing guidance concerning blasting regulations and performance issues.


* Managing ATF license.


* Maintaining Magazine Storage License.


* May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


* Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent required; PE or PG license preferred.


* Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience, including, but not limited to environmental compliance, property management, site permitting, etc. 


* Demonstrated knowledge of current federal, state and local environmental regulations


* Ability to build professional relationships with corporate, government agency and political leaders and develop external networks.


* Excellent customer service orientation.


* Must be able to obtain ATF clearances.
