Google Cloud Engineer - SME
Description & Requirements
Maximus is seeking a Google Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and support secure, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions across complex, multi-cloud environments.
This role requires deep hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), infrastructure automation, and cloud-native tools such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
This position is fully remote and strongly prefers an active Public Trust.
Candidates without an active Public Trust must be able to obtain.

• Design and implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud.
• Integrate Google Cloud services (e.g., Earth Engine, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub) with on-prem and other cloud platforms.
• Automate deployments using Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, and Google Cloud SDK.
• Configure and manage Kubernetes and GKE environments.
• Migrate and optimize data pipelines using ETL processes.
• Implement cloud security best practices and ensure compliance with FedRAMP/FISMA.
• Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure using Google Cloud Operations Suite.

Minimum Requirements (required skills that align with contract LCAT, verifiable, and measurable):
Project Specific Qualifications:
• Proficiency in GCP and AWS; understanding of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS models.
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Familiarity with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud APIs, SDKs, and secure integrations.
• Knowledge of federal compliance standards (FedRAMP, FISMA).
Years of Required Work-Related Experience:
• 5+ years
Required Certifications:
• None required, but cloud platform experience must be verifiable.
Preferred Key Skills and Abilities (not contractually required):
• Cloud certifications (e.g., Google Professional Cloud Engineer, AWS SysOps Admin).
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible.
• Familiarity with NIST and TIC 3.0 frameworks.
• Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog or Google Cloud Operations Suite
