Description
The Medical Records position plays a critical role at Colonial Vista Post Acute by ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of patient medical records.
As healthcare systems increasingly rely on electronic health records (EHR), the importance of trained professionals in managing, organizing, and safeguarding patient information has never been more vital.
This position demands a detail-oriented individual who can navigate medical terminology and understand the complex protocols related to patient data management.
The Medical Records staff is responsible for maintaining comprehensive patient files, processing medical data, and ensuring compliance with federal regulations and industry standards.
In addition, the role requires collaboration with various departments, including physicians, nursing staff, and administrative personnel, to facilitate effective communication and streamline record-keeping processes.
This position not only contributes to the operational efficiency of healthcare services but also plays an integral part in enhancing patient outcomes by ensuring that accurate and complete medical histories are readily available for clinical use.

Responsibilities
* Prepare and maintain accurate medical records and patient files.
* Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
* Review and verify the accuracy of patient data and updates in the electronic health record.
* Assist in the coding of diagnoses for billing and reimbursement purposes.
* Coordinate with various departments to retrieve patient medical information when necessary.
* Respond to inquiries regarding patient medical records in a timely and professional manner.
* Participate in audits to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in health information management preferred.
* Proficient in medical terminology and familiarity with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
* Experience with ICD-10 coding
* Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
* Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
* Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
* Prior experience in a medical records or healthcare administrative role is an advantage.
