Credit Risk

DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Monitor a portfolio of clients within the Public Finance industry and US government, focusing on both primary and operating exposure originating from the Investment Bank and Commercial Bank lending and trading desks, and Treasury and Securities Services (T&SS).

Prepare and review written credit approval documents, including financial analysis, financial modeling, application of internal policies related to risk grading, and collateral and support.

Navigate JP Morgan's internal credit systems for line of credit setup and for financial spreading.

Develop and recommend a credit view by conducting credit analysis and seeking approval from senior management for all transactions, including loans, derivatives, and operating exposures.

Work on transactions including negotiation of credit terms and legal documentation for bilateral and syndicated finance structures.

Keep abreast of changing legislation, governmental actions and economic trends that impact various US Public Finance clients.

Apply new technologies to credit risk analysis.

Train, mentor, and develop Analysts and other junior members of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Public Administration, or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Credit Risk Analyst, Financial Control Analyst, or related occupation.

The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Public Administration, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Credit Risk Analyst, Financial Control Analyst, or related occupation.

Skills Required: This position requires 3 years of experience with the following: Credit risk management in diverse industries including medium and large corporates and financial institutions; Developing credit views, conducting loss-given-default analysis, and managing credit exposure during financial stress environments; Structuring of bilateral loans, syndicated finance structures, and derivatives including understanding of legal agreements, credit terms and common collateral and security packages; and global economy, geopolitical situations, and economic regulations including analysis of crisis events, change in interest rates, impact of inflationary periods and changes in federal spending patterns and rules.

This position requires 2 years of experience with the following: Finance and accounting control including GAAP and IFRS; Performing balance sheet, P&L analysis and reconciliations to ensure the compliance with local regulations.
