Nemours is seeking a per diem Respiratory Therapist to join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Wilmington, DE.
This position is responsible for: Providing, under the general direction of the Therapist in Charge or Assistant Director of Respiratory Care, all routine and emergency respiratory care in all patient care areas.
The Respiratory Therapists provide clinical direction for respiratory care trainees and technicians.
The therapists provide consultation and education to other healthcare professionals as well.
The therapist is in routine contact with patients during the provision of hands-on care and in frequent contact with patients' families.
The respiratory therapist will have contact with other hospital staff, such as nurses and physicians.

Position Responsibilities:
* Verify all physician orders for respiratory care.
and provide age and developmental-appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.
* Assess patients clinically and evaluate for appropriateness of therapy.
* Provide aerosolized medication therapy, provide airway clearance therapies, airway management such as trach changes, tube taping, suctioning, medical gas therapy., ventilator setup and management., perform non-invasive monitoring, i.e., pulse oximetry, transcutaneous O2/CO2 and end-tidal CO2 monitoring, assist with in-house and inter-facility transports.
* Provide emergency respiratory care, i.e., airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, perform arterial blood gas sampling, point of care testing and electrocardiograms., participate in airway management during bronchoscopies.
* Document care provided, patient assessment and patient care orders in electronic medical record (EMR) or hard copy when necessary.
Enter charges in EMR
* Participate in discharge planning and home-care education by training patients, their families, and designated care providers.
* Provide recommendations and education to physicians and nurses regarding respiratory care.
* Participate in the evaluation or respiratory care equipment and procedures and maintain current knowledge about departmental policies and procedures.
Position Requirements:
Graduated a COAARC Approved Respiratory Care Program
DE State License, NBRC-RRT, and BLS-HCP required, AARC membership, PALS within 90 days of hire.
Preferred - NRP, NBRC-NPS, NBRC-CPFT, NBRC-RPFT, NBRC-SDS, AEC, and ACLS

To provide high quality diagnostic cardiac sonographic images on patients with and without congenital heart disease for interpretation and diagnosis by a Pediatric Cardiologist.
Position Responsibilities
* Primary focus on developing knowledge and skill as it relates to performing accurate diagnostic cardiac sonography on patients with and without complex disease processes in a segmental approach as outlined in department protocol.
* Triages and prioritizes patient care, ensures clinical data is correct and appropriate for exam/test requested.
* Selects appropriate equipment to optimize diagnostic quality according to patient's specific need.
* Demonstrates critical thinking.
* Works closely with peers and physicians for optimal outcomes.
* Travels to satellite clinics as needed.
* Recognizes and appreciates patient and family diversity and incorporates into the plan of care.
* Adheres to hospital and department policy and procedures.
* Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor.
Position Requirements
* Associate's Degree or equivalent training program required.
* Minimum of 6 months experience required.
Experience can include clinical rotations.
* Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Pediatric or Adult, or Registered Complex Congenital Sonographer (RCCS) or, Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) Fetal required upon hire.
Must obtain Pediatric registry within one year of hire.
* American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire.
* Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) Pediatric or, Registered Complex Congenital Sonographer (RCCS) preferred.
