Temporary Department Assistant

Position Type: Temporary - Agency Assignment

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

This position will be filled through a temporary staffing agency.

The selected candidate will be employed by the staffing agency and assigned to work at Salinas Valley Health.

The schedule and number of hours may vary based on department and operational needs.

Hours are not guaranteed.

Position works under the supervision of the Department Director.

The Department Assistant provides complex and responsible secretarial assistance to the Department.

Performs clerical duties by recording and maintaining information, scheduling appointments and answering requests for information as necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Primary Duties:


* Answers the telephone promptly and courteously to ensure smooth and accurate communication.

Records and communicates all messages in an accurate and timely manner.



* Possesses good writing and English skills.



* Possesses good organizational skills.



* Maintains Director's appointment calendar.



* Accurately and efficiently transcribes dictated correspondence.



* Accurately and efficiently takes and transcribes minutes for committee/meetings as assigned by the Director/Designee.



* Partners with the area leader to support management of staff timecards and attendance accountability reviews.



* Maintains and updates employee performance appraisal lists.



* Actively participates in achieving department goals.



* Demonstrates necessary flexibility in regard to changes in Hospital or department activities.

Pay Range: The hourly rate for this position is $25.00 - $30.00.

The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
