Senior Controls Engineer - Vapor Technologies

John Zink, a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to serve as a technical leader within our Vapor Technologies business.

This role will provide deep expertise in combustion systems, industrial controls, automation, and field application engineering while helping develop the next generation of controls engineers.

The successful candidate will be recognized as a technical resource capable of solving complex engineering challenges, supporting product innovation, improving engineering standards, and transferring knowledge across the organization.

In addition to delivering critical project work, this individual will play a key role in mentoring engineers and strengthening technical capability within the team.

What You Will Do


* Lead the design, development, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems for Vapor Technologies products.


* Serve as a subject matter expert in combustion systems, combustion controls, and process automation.


* Develop control strategies, automation architectures, and application-specific control solutions for complex customer applications.


* Troubleshoot challenging system issues and provide technical leadership during startup and commissioning activities.


* Support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.


* Establish and improve engineering standards, best practices, and design methodologies.


* Perform technical reviews and provide guidance to other engineers on complex projects.


* Develop and deliver technical training for controls and combustion-related topics.


* Mentor and coach engineers through project reviews, problem-solving, and lessons learned.


* Support sales, product, and service teams through technical consultation and customer engagement.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Experience designing, programming, testing, and commissioning industrial control systems for Vapor Combustion and Recovery projects.


* Experience with PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, drives, process controls, and automation systems.


* Experience supporting industrial combustion, thermal process equipment, or related process technologies.


* Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide effective solutions.


* Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

What Will Put You Ahead


* Deep technical expertise in combustion systems, burner management systems, combustion safety, boiler burner, flares, thermal oxidizers, biogas, or related equipment.


* Experience developing engineering standards and technical documentation.


* Proven track record coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers.


* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
