Phlebotomist - Full Time 60hr/pp

Responsible for reviewing lab orders and entering lab orders into the LIS accurately; performs collection of blood and urine samples from patients.

Job Duties: Orders lab test accurately in the LIS computer systemReceives lab samples in the LIS computer system for processingDistributes lab samples to the appropriate lab areaCollect drug screens using correct form and generate correct chargeLabel and handle lab specimens properlyPerforms venipuncture to obtain blood sample using appropriate type of equipment to adjust to patient age.

Use two identifiers to identify patient when collecting samples.Performs off-site venipuncture collectionsKeeps phlebotomy area well stocked with supplies.

Monitor inventory and submits requests for supply orders to be processed by Materials ManagementAlways answers phone using proper phone courtesyMaintains an organized and clean working area with well stocked supplyResearch and resolve problems with lab samples and test reports by looking up patients in the LIS computer system and fax to proper personnelSupports departmental goals and objectivesOther related duties as assigned
