Project Controls Engineer

Your Job

Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Project Controls Engineer to join our team.

You will work with project managers, engineers, schedulers, and construction professionals to improve project planning, forecasting, reporting, and execution.

Using project data and analytical tools, you will help teams develop executable plans, forecast outcomes, identify risks, and make better business decisions.

This role is ideal for recent graduates and early-career professionals who enjoy solving complex problems and applying technical skills to improve project performance and bottom-line results.

This position is based full-time at our headquarters in Katy, TX.

Remote work is not available.

This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Optimized Process Designs is an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm executing on complex energy and infrastructure projects across North America.

Their focus and expertise is in the natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical industries.

What You Will Do



* Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Excel, Power BI, and other tools


* Help project teams improve planning quality and execution performance


* Organize, validate, and analyze project cost, progress, schedule, labor, and productivity data


* Participate in planning workshops, schedule reviews, forecasts, and project performance discussions


* Identify trends, risks, opportunities, and inefficiencies within large datasets


* Support cost forecasting, progress measurement, change management, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives


* Support development and maintenance of integrated schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)



* Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Applied Mathematics, Data Analytics, or a related technical discipline


* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel


* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities


* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

What Will Put You Ahead



* Internship, co-op, or professional experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, industrial, energy, or EPC environments


* Experience with project planning, scheduling, forecasting, cost management, or project controls


* Familiarity with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project


* Experience using Power BI


* Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, Power Query, VBA, or macros


* Experience working with databases, large datasets, Python, SQL...
