FT Accounting Specialist Starting pay: $64,040/year Hours: Full-time 40 hours weekly Full-time Employee Benefits POSITION SUMMARY The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the financial management of the library auxiliary organization(s), projects, programs, and grants including alignment of financial disbursements with designated budgets, grants, and projects.

The Accounting Specialist records and processes financial transactions, maintains contractual agreements, and oversees record retention archives.

The Accounting Specialist follows Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ensures the librarys compliance with local, state, and federal requirements, and serves as backup payroll processor for the Assistant Finance Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES In cooperation with the Director of Finance, the Finance Team, and other colleagues, the Accounting Specialist will advance the librarys mission, vision, strategic priorities, and brand.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage auxiliary library organization budgeting, transaction recording, reconciliation, and reporting in collaboration with organizational leadership.Manage programming, special fund accounts, and external project funds to ensure financial accountability, and account standards and compliance statutes are in alignment with external funding requirements.Coordinate the financial information and records for grants, sponsorships, and external funding application requests; complete required reporting.Maintain a register of the librarys contractual agreements, ensuring terms and conditions are up to date and fulfilled.Ensure the record retention schedules are kept current and the document destruction requests are submitted in accordance with archival guidelines.Safeguard assets and resources through adherence to internal controls.Support departmental functions such as receipting revenue, records and contract management, capital project debt management, payroll processing, purchasing function, accounts payable processing, and other miscellaneous functions.Participate in special projects, or other duties, as assigned.
