AI Engagement Specialist

Base Pay: $ 105,000 - $135,000 / hour JOB SUMMARY The AI Engagement Specialist serves as Shasta Community Health Center's organizational specialist for the practical, responsible, secure, and effective use of artificial intelligence.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the AI Engagement Specialist establishes clear standards, reviews AI vendors and proposed uses, coordinates implementation, and helps staff use approved tools safely and effectively.

This is an individual-contributor role with no direct reports.

Success requires sound judgment, strong follow-through, and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all professional levels and with a wide variety of personalities, perspectives, and technical experience.



*Denotes essential job functions JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AI Governance and Responsible Use ·

*Develops and maintains practical policies, standards, and approval processes for the responsible use of AI at SCHC.

*Maintains an inventory of approved AI tools and use cases, including accountable owners, risk levels, safeguards, and review dates.

·

*Supports identification and reduction of unauthorized or inappropriate AI use, seeks to understand the need behind the use, and provides practical approved alternatives whenever possible.

·

*Partners with appropriate managers and staff to determine when patient notice, disclosure, consent, or other safeguards are required or appropriate for AI-enabled activities, including under applicable California recording and privacy laws.

Supports standard patient-facing consent or disclosure materials and a clear process for honoring and managing non-consent or opt-out decisions when applicable.

· Coordinates input from the appropriate clinical, operational, privacy, security, compliance, legal, and technology experts based on the use under review.

· Monitors relevant healthcare AI requirements and guidance and recommends needed policy or practice changes.

Vendor and Use-Case Review ·

*Reviews proposed AI tools, embedded vendor features, pilots, and use cases before implementation.

*Evaluates privacy, security, clinical safety, equity, workflow, integration, contract, data-use, and financial considerations in partnership with the appropriate subject-matter experts.

· Clarifies the organizational need, intended uses, and workflow impact while drawing on vendors and internal subject-matter experts for specialized technical analysis.

· Document findings, required safeguards, approval conditions, responsible owners, and recommendations for the Chief Information Officer.

Implementation and Ongoing Oversight ·

*Partners with clinical, operational, and technical staff to plan and carry out approved AI implementations.
