Health & Safety Manager (Field Based)

ERM is hiring a Health & Safety Manager in Elkhart, IN.

In this critical role, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing, managing and continuously improving the environment, health and safety programs for the facility.

The H&S Manager will have broad knowledge of H&S compliance programs and, where required, H&S specialty areas including Industrial Safety, Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Risk Management, and Process Safety.

This role will provide guidance in managing budgets to support outside services and operating expenses.

The role includes strategic H&S planning as well as a tactical role for site-wide H&S systems, H&S regulations, and best practices.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), limited-term role for a duration of 4 months, renewable.

RESPONBILITIES:

o Disposal coordination
o Compliance audits
o Manifest tracking
+ Permit compliance calendar management
+ Audiometric exam support (December)
+ PPE administration:
o Safety shoe program
o Safety glasses
o Equipment requests
+ Process Safety Management (PSM) safety and compliance oversight preferred


* Daily Risk & Operations Review
+ Key Activities
o Attend Tier and production meetings
o Review the previous 24 hours of:
# Incidents
# Near misses
# Safety observations
# Reported hazards
o Review significant planned activities, including:
# Production operations
# Maintenance work
# Contractor activities
# Project work
o Verify controls are in place for high-risk activities:
# Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
# Hot Work
# Confined Space Entry
# Working at Heights
# Line Breaking
o Contractor Work
o Prioritize EHS field activities based on risk


* Gemba Walks & Field Presence
+ Key Activities
o Conduct daily floor walks
o Observe work execution and employee behaviors
o Verify critical controls are functioning as intended
o Engage employees using Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles
o Review housekeeping and 5S conditions
o Observe contractor work activities
o Verify compliance with:
# PPE requirements
# Machine guarding standards
# Energy isolation procedures
o Identify system weaknesses and improvement opportunities rather than individual blame
