Safety & Health Manager - Radford, VA
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: l.
Bachelor's degree in safety or related field with a minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience preferred.
2.
Associate's Degree in Safety or related field with 10 years of experience in safety and a minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.
3.
Must have knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD), Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), Virginia Health Department (VDH), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations.
4.
Working experience in the field of explosives/pyrotechnics preferred.
5.
Work experience with ISO 45000 for Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management.
6.
Possession of Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar credentials preferred.
7.
Must possess time management skills and can multi-task and problem solve.
8.
Must be able to work and communicate well at all levels, internal and external to the organization.
9.
Must be courteous, tactful, and objective while working to ensure that safety, quality, production, and service objectives are maintained throughout the organization.
10.
Must have the ability to make judgments based on factual data and manage multiple activities.
11.
Background knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 preferred.
12.
Be able to read, speak, and understand English language.
JOB DUTIES: 1.
Provide guidance and direction for the Safety and Health Department for PBG.
2.
Implement, obtain, and maintain ISO 45000 certification for PBG 3.
Oversee and manage Safety Inspectors.
4.
Ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices are current and meet the needs of the company.
5.
Responsible for employee and contractor safety orientation.
6.
Responsible for industrial hygiene program.
7.
Perform safety and health audits.
8.
Chair the Plant Process Control Board.
9.
Lead the investigation of near-miss incidents, accidents, and injuries.
10.
Prepare materials and evidence for organizational use in insurance investigations.
11.
Maintain workers compensation claims.
Secure necessary information (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, or other documents) in the investigation of the claims.
12.
Perform Job Description Analyses for all positions to include: Production, Material Handling, Maintenance, Quality Assurance and Training for use determining return-to-work and light duty accommodations.
13.
Act as liaison with workers compensation carrier for incident investigations.
14.
Assist HR in the administration of workers compensation, return-to-work, and light duty programs, working with insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.
15.
Select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when needed.
16.
Establish and report all safety and health tracking metrics.
17.
Assist in planning, development and tracking of safety training sessions, inspections and audits following up to ensure completion of action items.
