Sr. Lead Software Engineer - Java/SpringBoot/SQL/AWS

We're seeking an experienced and highly skilled engineering leader to drive the architecture, delivery, and operational excellence of platforms that power JPMorgan's Alternative Investments business.

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset and Wealth Management line of business, you will set technical direction, lead teams, and partner closely with product, architecture, controls, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient systems for a portfolio that spans over $170bn in assets and 300+ fund investments across private equity, growth equity & venture capital, private credit, private real estate, and private infrastructure.

Job responsibilities


* Lead and actively contribute to the design, development, and deployment of high-quality applications aligned to the Alternatives business.


* Build event-driven Java, Spring Boot microservices; contribute directly to the codebase.


* Architect and operate scalable systems leveraging Kafka, k8s, MSK and AWS services.


* Drives adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.


* Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.


* Drive program collaboration across cross-functional teams.


* Lead and participate in code reviews; enforce high maintainability through TDD/BDD practices.


* Validate service scalability and resilience using mock testing frameworks and performance testing strategies.


* Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented culture.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


* Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.


* Proven experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise


* Demonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
