Overall Job Purpose

We are seeking a proactive, customer-focused professional to manage and oversee end-to-end shipment execution while also providing leadership and direction to the Ocean Export Freight team.

Acting as the primary point of contact for customers and a key escalation point within the department, you will ensure seamless service delivery, strong client relationships, and consistent team performance.

The Senior Ocean Freight Specialist plays a critical role in leading daily operational activities, mentoring team members, and driving service excellence.

The role is centred on meeting service commitments, identifying upselling opportunities, and optimising profitability through efficient routing, accurate invoicing, and effective dispute resolution.

You will also ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and foster a high-performing, collaborative team environment.

This position will focus on ocean freight exports, with responsibility for supporting and guiding the wider team, fostering development, and promoting a strong focus on growth.

Key Responsibilities


* Coordinate and complete all shipment-level activities, including the receipt of customer bookings, documentation requirements, and all related local and international transport.

Additionally, you will provide support, guidance, and training to less experienced or newer team members as needed.


* Ensure that all relevant quality KPIs are consistently met or exceeded.


* Act as the first point of contact for customers regarding shipment information, as well as handling exception and complaint management and claims.


* Manage shipment routing and assignments to ensure that customer service commitments align with our service promises and maximize profits.

This includes preparing accurate invoices and supporting documentation while addressing any invoice disputes.


* Implement necessary regulatory compliance procedures related to commodities and locations for shipments.


* Identify potential upselling opportunities and initiate customer contact to promote growth and retention.
