Georgia-Pacific's Mailers division is hiring a RUM Specialist (Reliability & Utilization Specialist) to support our converting operations.

Georgia-Pacific's Mailers Packaging division is seeking a RUM Specialist to serve as a site-based technical expert responsible for maximizing the availability, reliability, and standardized operation of RUM converting assets.

In this role, you will act as a system-level capability owner-bridging operations, maintenance, OEM knowledge, and continuous improvement-to reduce unplanned downtime, accelerate learning curves, and strengthen execution discipline.

You will not be assigned to day-to-day line staffing but will instead focus on building durable internal capability and reducing reliance on external technical support.

This position reports to the Asset Care Owner.

Location: This is a site-based role supporting McDonough, GA.

What You Will Do



* Support major downtime events by providing hands-on troubleshooting and coordinating rapid recovery efforts.


* Lead and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), ensuring corrective actions are defined, implemented, and sustained across all lines and shifts.


* Proactively identify failure modes, setup risks, and process instability to reduce unplanned downtime.


* Serve as the internal escalation point for technical issues prior to engaging OEM or external support.


* Execute and support make ready and changeover activities alongside Lead Machine Operators, focusing on reducing downtime, scrap, and variability.


* Identify and standardize best-in-class setup and changeover practices across assets.


* Validate and maintain equipment SOPs, ensuring standardized work is clearly defined, trained, audited, and sustained.


* Identify and close gaps between documented standards and actual execution through coaching and system improvements.


* Own the site's Recipe Tracker and Centerline Compliance, ensuring accuracy, control, and consistency across shifts.


* Analyze process variability and centerline drift, identifying root causes tied to equipment condition, consumables, or operator practices.


* Track consumable life cycles (belts, tooling, knives, wear parts) and proactively anticipate replacement needs.


* Partner with Maintenance to align consumable strategies with predictive and preventative maintenance efforts.


* Represent site operations on OEM (Garant RUM) calls, ensuring issues are data-driven and aligned to business impact.
