Assembler II
Job Summary:
Performs a wide variety of complex operations required to build, repair, rework, and align mechanical and electro‑mechanical components, sub‑assemblies and final assemblies.
Works from assembly methods books, sketches blueprints, and verbal and written instructions.
Critical tolerance requirements, (such as torque, backlash, tension end‑play, etc.) must conform to commercial, customer, and/or UL specifications.
Performs a variety of operations involving the assembly and/or rework of complex wiring harnesses, PC boards, sub‑assemblies and final assemblies.
Typical duties could include, but would not be limited to, those listed below.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
* Build, repair, rework and align complex assemblies, such as multiple gear trains, chassis, and unit alignments that require the constant monitoring and maintaining of critical tolerances.
Will disassemble, troubleshoot and repair sub assemblies to achieve proper alignment and calibration specifications for final assembly.
* Distinguish, identify and correct problems of form, fit or function in assemblies by using specialized techniques and knowledge acquired through a high degree of exposure in building assemblies requiring close physical tolerances.
* Multi step fixturization may be used to achieve proper drilling or alignment requirements.
The set up and use of this equipment is of a repetitive and complex nature that demands constant attention to ensure accuracy.
* Use gauges, micrometers, test equipment, and other measuring tools to check, adjust, calibrate and align the angles and fit of assemblies.
* Build, modify , or rework complex electrical assemblies, sub assemblies , harnesses, or final assemblies.
* Perform difficult touch up and soldering techniques such as: soldering in small spaces or where the location of the component causes difficulty, soldering on a highly populated assembly where errors could cause extensive rework, soldering fine wires or temperature sensitive and/or micro electronic components.
* Maintain accurate logs and records.
* Exhibit initiative and commitment to continuous improvement.
* Willingness to participate in a team environment.
* Responsible for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
* Must be able to perform all subordinate tasks required to accomplish the above duties and perform other related duties as required .
Education, Experience/Knowledge & License/Certification
* Requires a high school education or equivalent in order to read, write and interpret blueprints and electrical assembly diagrams as well as basic mechanical skills to maintain equipment.
* May require satisfactory completion of soldering school, and certification of calibration procedures to ensure customer specifications.
* Requires a minimum of 6-12 months of related experience in order to qualify.
