Our mission is to deliver high-quality data, improve public understanding of the economy, and collaborate with data providers to expand access and transparency.
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our Agile FRED development team.

In this role, you will help build and maintain the data pipelines, systems, and tools that enable FRED and related applications—including ALFRED—to deliver accurate, timely, and accessible economic data.



* Design, implement, and maintain databases and workflows that support data ingestion, storage, and access.


* Identify data sources, build data decomposition and flow diagrams, and document data processes clearly and thoroughly.


* Develop production-ready Python code for database access, data transformation, and stored procedures.


* Lead discussions with team members, business owners, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.


* Validate large datasets and perform bulk updates as needed.


* Build tools and automation capabilities that improve data processing efficiency and system reliability.


* Collaborate closely with software engineers, data experts, and other cross-functional partners to ensure accurate implementation of requirements.


* Coordinate testing, deployment, and project activities across the team and stakeholders.


* Identify, propose, and implement improvements to internal procedures as technology and data environments evolve.


* Provide backup production support when necessary.

Salary: $90,000 - $120,000
