We have a brilliant opportunity to join our fantastic Older Persons team.

We are the multi skilled hands-on practical support that helps our colleagues deliver services to our customers.  

We work with customers who are over 55 and have a housing or support need, across a mix of properties and grounds.

As our handy person, you’ll spend much of your time working across our five sheltered services.

What you’ll do


* Perform minor or emergency repairs, decorating and cleaning in properties and communal areas.


* Handle tasks like hanging curtain poles, moving furniture, touching up paint, changing washers, unblocking sinks, mowing lawns and clearing grounds. 


* Carry out regular fire safety checks.


* Work with colleagues, contractors and customers.


* Liaise with Customer Service Centre and contractors to report and follow up on repairs outside your remit.

You have


* A team player with a can-do attitude and enthusiasm.


* General maintenance know-how, a bit of carpentry, basic plumbing and confidence with a paintbrush or broom   


* Comfortable working and communicating with people from all walks of life.


* Ability to use technology for reporting repairs via email, complete compliance information in the health and safety control book and complete mandatory e-learning.


* To get from A to B, you’ll need a valid driving licence and a vehicle insured for business purposes.

The practical bits


* We mainly work Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm, but we’re flexible as long as we meet our customer’s needs.


* You'll be based at Prospect Place and travel around the 5 schemes around Teesside.


* Occasionally you'll head outside the patch for all hands on deck situations.


* You’ll need a Standard DBS check, we pay for it.
