Sr. Accountant, Vendor Relations
Job Description
The Senior Accountant, Vendor Relations, is part of the Vendor Relations team.
This position is responsible for the timely resolution of merchandise vendor disputes related to receiving, returns, vendor allowances, fill rate fees and inquiries on over $8B in annual Merchandising spend.
This position interacts with all levels of internal and external management and requires a strong analytica l background as well as the ability to train and help lead the team.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for managing 1 - 2 team members
* Research and resolve vendor disputes including unpaid invoices, cost discrepancies, quantity discrepancies, allowance variance, EDI invoice error, VDP non-match charges, fill rate fees, late PO deductions and other items disputed by the Merchandising Vendor community.
* Work with vendors on Workfront training and vendor portal accounting reports.
* Helps manage the Vendor Account Statement Review process and make recommendations to leadership on amounts to pay or not pay for vendor settlements.
* Partner with the pricing and promotions team to manage the Vendor Cost Reconciliation process.
* Identify and act on opportunities to streamline/improve current processes that will increase the EDI Match Rate.
These processes will include DC receiving, vendor shipping, vendor chargeback receiving, accuracy of cost changes, accuracy of allowances in system and EDI transmission issues
* Drive improvements on existing processes
* Hold monthly conference calls with assigned key vendors to ensure payments are made timely and accurately
* Provide accurate, trustworthy, timely research and advice to Category Managers when reviewing vendors' issues and accounts.
* Participate in cross-functional projects
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
* Minimum of 5 - 7 years related experience
* MBA preferred
* Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
* Advanced excel as well as experience with SQL
* Strong procedure development and implementation skills, and demonstrated process improvement ability
* Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
* Ability to generate bold, creative ideas to improve processes and performance
* Excellent Communication and Organizational skills
* Ability to succeed in a team environment
