Job Description:


* Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval for services from referring physicians.


* Treat patients according to the physician's treatment plan.


* Assist the nursing department with the training of Restorative Aides.


* Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants in direct patient care and related activities, following state practice regulations.


* Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.


* Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.


* Engage in in-service training programs for other staff in the facility.


* Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, and recertification documentation in accordance with the Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and third-party payer requirements.


* Document treatment changes per policy and procedures.


* Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services.


* Participate in discharge planning.


* Recommend and facilitate the ordering of necessary durable medical equipment to enhance patient mobility (e.g., braces, walkers, canes, elevated toilet seats, grab bars).


* Report any issues with departmental equipment to ensure it remains in good working order.

Qualifications:


* Valid Occupational Therapy License.
