Job Summary
Under the general direction of the General Counsel to the Public Defender, supports file management and maintenance, assists with labor relations matters such as tracking discipline, grievances and contract bargaining.
Provides logistical support; exercises discretion, sound judgment and personal initiative to determine and implement the proper approach or action to take in routine and non-routine situations relative to support operations of the General Counsel's office.
Interprets and adapts guidelines, including unwritten policies, precedents and practices.
Acts as a resource person to deal with department-wide or county-wide rules, regulations and protocols as they impact on the specific work area or its personnel.
Performs detailed review of legal and confidential records to identify privileged, sensitive, or exempt information.
Prepares appropriate redactions and drafts supporting privilege logs as required.
Assists in reviewing and categorizing records responsive to requests for information, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with disclosure obligations.
Performs specialized and complex administrative work within an office, which may include a wide range of duties.
Handle a variety of situations and contingencies that may arise.
Assist in the coordination of various units or activities of the Department/Bureau.
Assume primary ownership of key elements of administrative operations and support activities.
Demonstrate expertise and comprehensive knowledge of various aspects of support operations within its parameters.
Answer administrative questions and address unconventional issues.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate AND
• Two (2) years of administrative, clerical, or operations or directly related experience OR
• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.
