Manager of Software Engineering - Java, Observability, DevOps

As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking technology - Deposits Platform, you lead multiple teams and manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team's work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Job responsibilities


* Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities


* Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration


* Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements


* Manages stakeholder relationships and the team's work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements


* Creates a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


* Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.

In addition, demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience


* Experience leading technology projects and Experience managing technologists


* Deep proficiency in reliability, scalability, performance, security, enterprise system architecture, toil reduction, and other site reliability best practices with the ability to implement these practices within an application or platform


* Fluency in at least one programming language such as (e.g., Python, Java Spring Boot, .Net, etc.)


* Deep knowledge of software applications and technical processes with emerging depth in one or more technical disciplines


* Proficiency and experience in observability such as white and black box monitoring, SLO alerting, and telemetry collection using tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, etc.


* Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous delivery tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform, etc.)


* Experience with container and container orchestration (e.g., ECS, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)


* Experience with troubleshooting common networking technologies and issues
Ability to identify and solve problems related to complex data structures and algorithms


* Drive to self-educate and evaluate new technology

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills


* Experience working at code level


* Enthusiasm for learning new technologies, with a focus on public cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
