Safety Auditor
General Purpose
PACS is experiencing rapid growth and is committed to making safety a foundational element of our culture.
We are developing a best-in-class safety program that goes beyond regulatory compliance to proactive prevention, cultural integration, and measurable injury reduction.
The Safety Auditor will play a pivotal role in this mission — leading facility audits, identifying and mitigating risks, influencing behavior, and collaborating across leadership levels.
We're seeking somebody who is resourceful, solutions-oriented, and thrives in an evolving environment where they'll grow alongside the business.
Essential Duties
* Conduct comprehensive safety and property audits across all PACS facilities, with a target of two visits per facility per year.
* Evaluate facility conditions, systems, and operations against applicable regulatory frameworks (OSHA, NFPA Life Safety Code, state/local requirements) and PACS internal standards.
* Inspect key risk domains including:
+ Slip, trip, and fall hazards (interior/exterior)
+ Patient/resident handling and positioning
+ Combative resident scenarios and restraint ergonomics
+ Fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms, suppression)
+ Emergency lighting/generator systems
+ Electrical and mechanical safety
+ Kitchen/food service suppression systems
+ Exterior site conditions (walkways, lighting, access, exits)
+ Documentation, logs, preventive maintenance, staff training.
* Review documentation and records: injury logs, OSHA 300/300A, IIPP/injury prevention programs, audit reports, maintenance schedules, training completion, emergency drills.
* Identify hazards, generate clear audit findings, partner with facility leadership to develop, implement, and monitor corrective action plans.
* Provide photo documentation, digital summarised reports, status tracking of open items, and follow-up verification.
* Aggregate data across audits to identify trends, systemic risks, and opportunities for proactive prevention.
* Partner with the VP of Safety & Risk Management to develop and refine audit tools, reporting dashboards, and predictive metrics that drive down incident frequency and severity.
* Champion the adoption of a strong safety culture — engaging facility leadership and staff, coaching toward safe behaviors, and elevating safety as a core value at PACS.
* Travel extensively: anticipate multiple overnight stays, site visits across geographic regions, ability to adapt to busy schedule and shifting priorities.
Required Qualifications
* Foundational understanding of OSHA standards, NFPA Life Safety Code, or healthcare facility safety practices (training provided for the right candidate).
* Strong observational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to document findings clearly and concisely.
