AutoCAD/Take-Off Technician

The AutoCAD/Take-Off Technician is responsible for assisting the Estimators, calculating accurate take-off quantities, plan reviews, and data entry for jobs that are being bid.

AutoCAD/Take-Off Technician - What Will You Do?


* Assist Estimators in the bidding process through accurate calculations of take-off quantities of dirt, concrete, blacktop, stone, pipe, geotextile, and other miscellaneous materials using AutoCAD.


* Learn to read plans and project specifications.


* Learn to use PennDOT and PTC standards and Special Provisions as they relate to work being bid.


* Learn to identify incidental items of work that require material take-off.


* Correspondence with material suppliers and subcontractors in calculating an accurate take-off.


* Assist in the entry of subcontractor quotes in Heavy Bid.


* Attend meetings and training as required.


* Perform assigned work in accordance with applicable safety polies.


* Assist the engineering department as able and as needed.


* Other tasks that may be needed to provide a responsible bid.


* Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements - Who Are We Looking For?


* Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Surveying.

Equivalent experience within the industry may be considered in lieu of degree.


* Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Experience with Carlson Takeoff is preferred.


* Attention to detail and good planning skills along with strong analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are required.


* Computer proficiency Excel and a willingness to learn Heavy Bid Software.
