JOB OVERVIEW:
Under the close supervision of the Operations Manager, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled building construction, alteration, and maintenance repair work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assists the Lead Building Service Worker in determining equipment, tools, and materials required for assigned tasks; serves as a lead worker over other volunteer workers.
Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled painting, carpentry, plastering, masonry, plumbing, metal work, electrical, mechanical maintenance, and related work.
Hangs doors, lays flooring, installs partitions and drop ceilings, repairs door closures and performs other carpentry work.
Repairs faucets, unstops clogged lines and performs other plumbing work.
Installs and replaces light fixtures, outlets, bulbs, fuses, and performs other electrical work.
Maintains and repairs locks, appliances, boilers, pneumatic controls, heating and refrigeration systems and related mechanical devices; monitors gauges and adjusts controls on equipment.
Paints and redecorates walls, woodwork, furniture, and fixtures.
Welds, brazes, solders, and cuts material using oxy-acetylene and electric welding equipment to repair existing structures or in the construction of new facilities.
Performs a variety of general custodial functions such as emptying trash, picking up litter, cleaning windows, sweeping and cleaning restrooms and other areas.
Performs other duties in connections with the operation of the facility and/or area as may be assigned.
Reads, interprets, and works from sketches, diagrams, and blueprints.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
Experience: Two (2) to four (4) years of diversified experience in Building Construction, Alteration, Maintenance, and Repair Work.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools, and materials used in a variety of building maintenance functions.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to building maintenance.
Skills: Skilled in the use of specialized and common tools and materials of several trades.
Abilities: Ability, if assigned, to lead and organize the work of others.
Ability to read, interpret, and work from sketches, diagrams and blueprints.
