Director of Software Engineering

As the Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Operations Technology - Cash & Check Management team, you will lead a technical area and promote impact across teams, technologies, and projects within various departments.

You will leverage your extensive knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives.

In this role, you will serve as the primary decision maker for your teams, fostering innovation and ensuring the successful delivery of solutions.

Job responsibilities



* Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives


* Makes decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures


* Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations


* Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains


* Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams


* Champions the firm's culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


* Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience.

In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.


* Documented strengths in Innovation and Continuous Improvement to include promotion and adoption of emerging technologies and best practice within the cloud software engineering team


* Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists.

Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals.


* Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent


* Deep expertise building and operating large scale high performance environments with distributed systems and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)


* Deep expertise with enterprise design patterns and industry best practices with experience using modern technology (e.g., Java, Cassandra, Kafka) and design patterns (e.g., microservices, APIs).


* Ability to work in a dynamic, agile environment leading/working with geographically distributed teams.


* Experience with building, leading and mentoring technology teams and next level leaders within the organization.


* Experience with implementing industry standard risk, cybersecurity & technology controls.


* Strong organizational and management skills.


* Practical cloud native experience
