Log Processing Utility - Days - Springfield, OR
Position Title: LPC Utility
Reports To: Green Veneer Supervisor
Department: Green End
Hours per shift: Employee works 8-hour shifts, with two 10-minute breaks, and 20-minute paid lunch.
Day: 7:00 A.M.
to 3:00 P.M. Swing: 3:00 P.M.
to 11:00 P.M.
Wage: Level 3
Position Purpose: Increase log processing efficiency by clearing plug ups and backing up log processing operators.

LPC Utility: Essential Functions

These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job.
Clean up sawdust, chips, Veneer, bark, Using shovel, broom, air hose, forklift, rake, wheelbarrow, conveyors, etc.
May require moving small or broken logs infrequently.
Requires repetitive use of hands, arms, upper body, back, legs.
Worker will bend, twist, squat, push/pull (back legs) using waist, shoulders, arms, hands, and wrists to manipulate a variety of tools.
Crawl under machinery occasionally.
Climb ladders occasionally and stand/walk for long periods of time.
Maintain conveyors and chippers.
Clean work areas.
Assist operators with jam ups and cross ups
Fill in at any log processing workstation during operator absences
Must be able to work in all weather conditions
Must be able to operate 950 Loader
Must be able to operate bucksaw
Non-Essential Functions
These duties are secondary in nature and are not classified as ADA essential.
The worker may be required to rotate to different positions for cross training purposes or to facilitate production.
Job duties for other positions are outlined in their individual job descriptions.
Assist Co-Workers or maintenance personnel in basic maintenance and upkeep of machine.
Working Environment: (1) Inside 5% Outside 95%, average temperature 60 degrees, extreme low temperature 10 degrees F, extreme high temperature 105 degrees F. (2) Noise or vibration: Machine noise to include machine being operated as well as other machines close by including Loaders. Hazards: See Job Hazard Analysis.
(3) Atmospheric conditions: Dust: Limited, Mist: Water, Odors: Dry wood, Gasses: None, Poor Ventilation: None.
Personal Protective Equipment Required: (1) Eye Protection.
(2) Hearing Protection. (3) Blue Atlas gloves when feeding re-dry veneer.
(4) Approved Footwear.
Physical Demands: See the attached Job/Task Evaluation and Physical Capabilities portion; this position requires constant use of hearing and vision, frequent bending, twisting, pushing/pulling and reaching, and occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling more than 50 lbs.
Skills: Must have excellent hand eye coordination.
Excellent time management skills, the ability to climb a ladder and stairs, good communication skills, math and reading skills and the ability to operate 950 loader, Bobcat, and forklift.
Uses hand tools, shovels, rake, pike poles, and picaroon.
Safety: (1) Do only maintenance you are trained to do and keep all body parts out of machinery.
