Lab Assistant - Clinical Labs - Float

Work Schedule :

This is a part-time, FTE .80, 1st shift position.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, varying start times between 7:45 a.m.

and 9 a.m., 8 hour shifts.

Hours may vary based on department needs.

You will float to the UW Health Clinics.

Pay :


* External hires may be eligible for up to a $2,000 sign on bonus.

We are seeking a Lab Assistant - Float to:


* Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages and ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling.


* Complete specimen receiving and processing, load them onto instruments or perform the kit testing, and associated instrument maintenance (temperatures, monitoring reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing).


* Patient check-in and order entry of laboratory tests in the laboratory information system.


* Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing unit personnel, and patients.

Education :

Minimum - High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred - Completion of accredited Phlebotomy Training program and clinical rotation.

Work Experience :

Minimum - Six Months of Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing Experience

Preferred - One year of experience in phlebotomy and processing

Certifications :

Minimum -

Preferred - Phlebotomist (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent or

Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent
