General Purpose of Job

The Geospatial Specialist I is responsible for delivering a wide variety of GIS technical services and data management services to the various departments of the Cooperative.

Primary responsibilities include providing custom cartographic services, GIS data support (acquisition, cleaning, maintenance, analysis, conversion, etc.), and maintenance of the real-world assets modeled in GIS.

The Geospatial Specialist II is responsible for the enforcement of foreign attachment agreements, joint use billing and communication with each vendor to ensure permit and removal requests are processed properly to maintain correct attachment counts.

Primary responsibilities also include processing all recorded easements, so they are properly represented in GIS, maintaining all approved municipal annexations so that member tax codes are properly maintained in GIS and the maintenance of feeder maps and circuit modeling exports.

Requirements

Education

• Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Geography, computer science or engineering.

Experience

• Minimum: Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in a GIS environment with mapping responsibilities.

• Preferred: Experience in maintaining, updating, analyzing, and converting spatial/non-spatial data.

• Preferred: Experience with ERSI ArcGIS platform or GE Smallworld.

• Preferred: Experience with AutoCAD, FME and SQL.

• Preferred: Experience within an electric utility or related industry.

Other Requirements

• Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.

• Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including a personal computer, printers, copy machines and telephone.

• Ability to progress to Geospatial Specialist II within two (2) years of job award.

• Normal work hours will be eight (8) hours Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

• Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
