ROLE SUMMARY

The Database Administrator maintains responsibility for the design, implementation, maintenance, and repair of organizational database systems.

Ensures that the underlying technologies provide users with flexibility in managing, accessing, retrieval, sharing, and configuration of the data managed by organizational database systems.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


* Defines and implements controls required to verify data integrity.


* Defines and implements access and security controls to protect corporate data and database systems availability.


* Monitors databases and implements changes ensuring performance, stability, and availability of database systems.


* Provides support to meet objectives of development and testing.


* Acts as subject matter expert to programmers and engineers in their efforts to efficiently utilize database systems.


* For assigned applications:
• Performs routine system administration functions such as component shutdown/startup, concurrent/job process and queue management, changing profile settings, and security tasks (login creation, passwords) of assigned applications.
• Performs "cloning" process to copy applications instances using manual and automated functions.
• Installs and configures applications infrastructure including but not limited to web servers, middleware servers, forms and report servers, and other components related to the assigned application product.
• Upgrades and patches applications.


* Assists with the implementation and upgrade of database systems.


* Investigates and resolves problems related to database systems.


* Performs as applications Database Administrator with the ability to manage application infrastructure components.


* Provides 24/7 production support as required.
