Reporting to the President/CEO of SVMHS, and under the direction of the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital (SVMH) Foundation Board of Governors.

The Executive Director Foundation has primary responsibility for leading and strengthening a comprehensive philanthropy program in support of the SVMH Foundation's vision and mission, with specific emphasis on major donors and planned giving.

The Executive Director is responsible for leading, controlling, planning and organizing effective and efficient delivery of the SVMH Foundation's goals.



* Responsible for planning and implementing effective major gift and planned gift cultivation and solicitation and managing the functional teams of stakeholders involved.



* Devises and executes plans to qualify, contact, and cultivate potential new donors.

Has a high-level of interactions with prospects and conducts personal visitations.



* Responsible for leading and role modeling donor stewardship and cultivation.

Moves potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure.

Ensures enough donors are in the prospect pipeline to meet organizational revenue goals.



* Leads and monitors the quality and quantity of the Foundation and Children's Miracle Network (CMN) services, and ensures implementation of tools which accurately assess areas needing improvement and develops and executes a strategic plan.



* Constructs, monitors, and updates a comprehensive one-year and long-range strategic plan, including measurable goals and objectives for the major or planned giving program, and a comprehensive marketing strategy.



* With counsel, advises Foundation and Hospital on legal matters relating to major and planned giving, with specific regard for legal requirements and consequences.



* Drafts and analyze proposals, gift illustrations, and legal documents; ensures implementation of systems/policies to avoid potential litigation risks related to charitable giving.



* Trains and supervises staff as well as external stakeholders to build organizational capacity, individual, and team productivity, and sustainability in major gift fundraising.



* Develops long-term relationships with a variety of constituents, including colleagues, donors, physicians/providers, boards, volunteers, staff and community leaders.



* Works closely with the Foundation Board to carefully identify approved potential programs and projects for major gift support, board development, recruitment, volunteer engagement and financial reporting.



* Exercises careful fiscal management to achieve a strong return on investment for philanthropy expenditures.



* Enhances the Healthcare System's and department's image by involvement in related community organizations.
