Your Role: Clinical Site Veterinarian

The Clinical Site Veterinarian serves the Winslow site as a site veterinarian by providing health care to animals in Manufacturing and Quality departments.

In addition, the position will ensure local compliance with animal welfare and regulatory guidelines serving as the Local Animal Welfare Officer (LAWO).

This role will support the larger global Animal Welfare organization, specifically with policy, and accreditation activities.

This position works closely with Regulatory, Quality Control/Avian Services Team Leader, Quality Assurance and other team members.

Your Responsibilities:


* Manages Avian Health & Biosecurity: Implements, maintains, and improves comprehensive programs for flock health monitoring, biosecurity, and cleaning/disinfection to ensure high quality and disease-free birds for research.

This includes addressing hatchability and incubation issues, as well as providing technical guidance for chick health.


* Provides Technical Expertise & Training: Leads and supports vaccine testing, husbandry program development, and training for personnel on clinical, husbandry, and animal welfare procedures.

This includes expertise in vaccine and challenge administration, clinical observation, and necropsy techniques.


* Champions Animal Welfare: Serves as the Local Animal Welfare Officer (LAWO), ensuring compliance with USDA regulations and ethical treatment of animals.

Participates in audits, provides guidance to staff, and oversees incident reporting, staff screening, and risk mitigation related to animal welfare.

This also involves contributing to facility improvements.


* Leads IACUC Activities: Collaborates with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) to establish and maintain appropriate procedures.

Rotates as Attending Veterinarian and voting member on the IACUC.


* Manages Select Agent Program: Serves as the Responsible Officer for the Select Agent Program, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
