Industrial Automation System Architect
The Industrial Automation System Architect position is a part of Innovation & Technology, the CTO office of the Industrial Automation business unit.
What will you do?
* Under the leadership of senior system architects, help define future industrial automation system architecture that incorporate advanced wireless and wired communication technologies and software-defined networking (SDN) solutions
* Conduct technical assessment, experimentation, and proof-of-concept developments for emerging technologies and related applications relevant for the system architecture
* Collaborate with other system architects, program managers, and business leaders to develop system-level strategy for industrial automation systems
* Support the management of the technology pipeline for the evolution of industrial system platforms including as IoT, IIoT, edge control/compute and associated communication technologies
* Participate in relevant internal and external standardization activities
* Drive innovation with the objective to solve customers' pain points utilizing both mature and evolving platforms
Who will you report to?
* You will report to the System Architecture Team Leader.
This role is a hybrid position.
You are required to report to the Andover, MA office at least 3 days a week and up to 25% travel a year.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
* A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering
* 3+ years of experience developing wired and wireless networking technologies including IP, Ethernet, 5G, Wi-Fi (802.11), and related protocols
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Solid knowledge of software-defined technologies such as virtualization, containerization, orchestration and virtual networks
* Experience building or supporting industrial automation systems and architectures
* Skills and experience in software development (e.g., C, C++, Rust, ..)
* Familiarity with industrial Ethernet and other fieldbuses such as OPC UA, EtherNet/IP
* Familiarity with system engineering and modeling
