Job Description

As a Sr.

Scientist you will be responsible for developing impactful biocatalytic solutions to challenging problems in synthetic organic chemistry enabling design of ground-breaking synthesis routes for small molecule synthetics and related modalities and help us expand and advance our Bio-catalysis capabilities.

Within the Chemical Process Research and Development process chemists and engineers team up with analysts, crystallization and safety experts to design the best manufacturing process and work closely together with the pilot and production plants.

You will be part of a team focusing on the development of biocatalytic processes for the Janssen pipeline and support recruitment, screenings and enzyme engineering campaigns of biocatalysts.

Your responsibilities:


* Planning, execution, documentation of enzyme engineering campaigns and process development across all stages of development


* Set priorities, checkpoints, and time frames for experimental work


* Analyse data, identify activities and communicate your evaluations to project teams


* Build an encouraging, learning orientated and safe work environment


* Contribute to lab procedures and workflows


* Contribute to maintaining technical proficiency in biocatalysis by keeping up to date with scientific literature and interacting with scientists

Qualifications

We are looking for:


* PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or equivalent with a strong foundation in biocatalysis


* Demonstrated experience in enzymatic assay development and enzyme engineering.


* In-depth understanding of biotransformation workflows and enzyme-engineering strategies


* Hands-on experience with different enzyme classes


* Excellent organization and communication skills


* Systematic, flexible, proactive and goal-oriented with high degree in autonomy and sense of responsibility


* Qualifications have been clearly demonstrated via publications and presentations


* Professional working proficiency in English
