Director of Palliative Care
Position: Director of Palliative Care
Pay: $140,000 - $150,000 / year Depending on Experience
The Director of Palliative Care provides strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and operational management for the organization's palliative care program.
This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient- and family-centered care for individuals with serious, chronic, or life-limiting illnesses.
The Director will guide program development, staff supervision, quality improvement, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Combination of clinical and administrative duties.
* Occasional travel between facilities or community sites.
* May require evening or weekend availability based on patient or operational needs.
Leadership & Strategy
* Develop and execute a comprehensive vision for palliative care services across skilled nursing facility and home-based settings.
* Lead and grow an interdisciplinary palliative care team, including physicians, nurse practitioners, and other support staff.
* Advocate for palliative care within the organization and community, building partnerships to enhance care delivery.
Clinical Oversight
* Ensure clinical excellence in symptom management, communication, and care planning.
* Serve as a clinical expert and mentor to staff regarding complex cases and best practices.
* Ensure compliance with applicable clinical guidelines, state/federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
Program Development & Operations
* Oversee program operations, including staffing, scheduling, workflows, and resource allocation.
* Expand service lines and access points in alignment with patient population needs and organizational goals.
* Collaborate with leadership to develop and manage budgets, performance metrics, and outcome measures.
* Identify and pursue partnership opportunities with ACOs, payers, and health systems to expand access to palliative care services.
Quality Improvement
* Monitor and improve clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and outcomes.
* Implement evidence-based protocols and lead quality improvement initiatives.
* Support data collection, reporting, and evaluation to demonstrate program impact and ROI.
Education & Community Engagement
* Promote staff development through training, education, and professional growth opportunities.
* Lead educational efforts within the organization and community to increase palliative care awareness.
* Represent the program at conferences, health system committees, and public events.
