Government Relations Intern
As ARA's Government Relations Intern, you will conduct political and legislative research on public policy issues ranging from energy and healthcare to national defense and homeland security.
You will help develop legislative, political, and grassroots strategies to achieve desired outcomes in law.
Your responsibilities include creating written, visual, and presentation materials to support strategies for Capitol Hill engagements and participating in limited Capitol Hill interactions under close supervision.
You'll prepare policy reports and briefs, present findings, analyze legislative proposals, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing government policies and programs to formulate strategic recommendations.
What you’ll do as a GR Intern
* Track and report on floor and committee activities of the House and Senate.
* Develop, manage, and track ARA legislative priorities by fiscal year cycle.
* Develop, manage, and track ARA interactions with Hill members and staff.
* Analyze legislation of importance to ARA and prepare legislative proposals.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders in support of the goals of ARA Government Relations team.
* Limited lobbying activities in support of the goals of ARA’s Government Relations team.
GR Intern Requirements
* Strong written and oral communicator.
* Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
GR Intern Preferences
* Limited Capitol Hill experience, such as in an intern or staff assistant role
* Intermediate skill level in Excel
