Greenchain 3 days / Haul Down 2 days a week.

Haul Down forklift size is a 210 also known as a big lift.

Position Title:  Haul Down and Shipping Forklift

Reports to:  Green End Supervisor

Department: Glendale Veneer

Hours per shift:  Employee works four ten hour shifts Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with Thursday, Saturday and Sunday off.

Employee gets three ten minute breaks and a thirty minute unpaid lunch break.

Occasional Saturday overtime is required.

Wage:  Level 3

Position Purpose: The haul down and shipping forklift operator is responsible for transporting all green veneer produced in the green end to the green veneer storage area at the plywood plant.

The haul down driver also loads green veneer onto flat bed trailers and curtain vans as needed.

These duties are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job.

Safely transport all green veneer produced in the green end to the green veneer storage area at the plywood plant.

Coordinate with the dry end driver veneer needs for each dryer

Load veneer onto flat bed trailers or curtain vans for shipping as needed.

Handle necessary shipping documents (minor computer skills are needed for this task).

Assist inside green end driver with changeovers when needed.

Count loaded peeler core trailers

Handle necessary shipping documents associated with peeler core shipping.

Chip fishtail ends.

 

 

Non-Essential Functions

These duties are secondary in nature and are not classified as ADA essential.

Keep veneer yard free of stray stickers and other debris.

Keep forklift neat and orderly.

Saw double ended fishtails

 

Working Environment:  (1) Inside 90%, average temperature 70 degrees F (2) Outside 10%; extreme low temperature 10 degrees F, extreme high temperature 105 degrees F.  Noise or vibration:   Machine noise to include machine being operated as well as other machines close by including Forklifts.

Personal Protective Equipment Required:  (1) Eye Protection.

(2) Hearing Protection.  (3) Rubber or Leather based gloves when handling dry veneer.

(4) Approved Footwear.

Physical Demands:  See the Physical Capabilities as listed below; this position requires constant use of hearing and vision, bilateral use of arms and hands, frequent bending, twisting, pushing/pulling and reaching, and occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling more than 30 lbs.

Skills: Must have excellent hand eye coordination.

Use vision/hearing continuously.  Reading and speech required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, machine specific lockout procedures, monthly safety training, etc.  Worker generally works alone with little supervision.  Operators must be self-directed in identifying and...
